About the Event

About the session

Work Essentials is a series which features conversations between two creative entrepreneurs who share something that is essential to their businesses. For our 4th episode, we will be talking about fashion, sustainability and consumer habits. Vikram Ramchandani, Founder of United Coalition, met Martin Letellier Merdia Rojas, Co-Owner and Executive Director of Bodements at our Freshly Squeezed pop up in February where they discovered how similar their business goals and personal ideals were. Join this conversation to learn more about sustainable fashion, consumer spending and the future of this industry.

About the speakers

Vikram is the founder of rewear which is a platform to buy and sell pre-owned luxury ethnic wear. rewear hopes to bring about a shift in mindset, “we want to have our audience start looking at their closets as an asset, rather than a liability.”

Unlike the many websites out there that let you rent designer wear, rewear looks at only selling pre-owned luxury garments. They look to preserve the garments that are already in people's closets, and put them back into circulation.

Martin moved to Bombay two years ago after living in Paris where he worked in the luxury fashion sector. Coming to Bombay, he was surprised at the lack of options for second-hand clothing. Bodements is committed to educating and propagating the mentality of slow fashion and responsible ethical consumer practices. Today, mass-market fashion is one of the most polluting industries in the world, and Asian countries are the first to suffer the consequences.
