About the session

This session will help founders and entrepreneurs understand the importance of building their human capital strategy as part of their business model if they plan to grow and expand their teams, and how they can setup lean people and culture systems on their own to manage early employee expectations. Participants will leave the session with the knowledge of how to build and implement a People & Culture strategy to recruit, motivate and develop teams that contribute towards their vision without needing a separate team.

About the speaker

Ria Shroff Desai never thought she’d work in HR. But she always knew she wanted to contribute towards building strong companies and brands, and being a part of growth stories. After 10+ years living and working across the US, Dominican Republic and India, she had the opportunity to build and lead a People Operations team which is where she realised how human capital can make or break a company’s success. Having consulted for smaller companies as well as nonprofits, she has seen where and how traditional HR systems fail, and how founders struggle when faced with rapid growth. She believes that the future of business lies in people, profits and purpose. Ria is an avid - though currently dormant - runner, loves reading and is fluent in Spanish.
